Stan Horrell
Founder and President
Stan has devoted over four decades to serving on the frontlines of God’s global mission. In response to God’s call, he has actively engaged in Kingdom work around the world, serving in a variety of roles—including missionary, mission pastor, and lead pastor. Through his extensive experience, he has gained deep insight into every facet of global ministry.
Stan feels deeply blessed by the meaningful relationships he has formed across the globe. His passion lies in helping Kingdom workers remain spiritually strong and emotionally healthy for long-term ministry. This passion led to the founding of MissioCare Collective, where he now serves as President and Co-Founder.
His personal journey includes 50 years of life and ministry alongside his wife, Gi Gi. Together, they have raised four devoted children who love the Lord and are now blessed with nine delightful grandchildren. Stan has also walked through a profound journey of grief following the loss of his daughter, who was called to her heavenly home as a young woman. God has powerfully used this experience to shape the core values and overall impact of MCC.
His role in casting vision for the organization includes implementation of new member care initiatives, chairman of the Board of Directors, and pastoral care to both staff and board members—ensuring the overall well-being of the ministry.
Kathy Thomas
Clinical Director
Kathy is a follower of Christ. Her identity is summed up in Him.
Kathy is a licensed psychologist and board-certified in neuropsychology. She has taught graduate classes/servant leadership classes at Multnomah University, Pepperdine University, Phoenix Seminary and Development Associates International. In addition to working in local ministry, she has also consulted for missionary teams in Italy, Russia, Africa, and Cambodia. Kathy has a special place in her heart for global worker care, conflict resolution, assessments and trauma recovery.
For MCC Kathy conducts assessments, provide guidance for care teams, trainings and trauma-informed care assuring the integration of evidence-based practices with a biblical world-view.
Andi Walters
Spiritual Foundations Director
Andi and her husband Bob have spent their lives investing in the next generation and serving the Kingdom both locally and globally. With a passion for helping women know God’s Word and embrace their identity in Christ, Andi has faithfully served in the Women's Ministry for over 20 years. She currently leads a Bible study group and is actively involved in her church’s women’s ministry and global workers team.
Her journey of sharing the love of Jesus began years ago through MOPS, igniting a lifelong call to disciple and encourage women in their walk with the Lord. Now living in Centralia, WA, Andi and Bob have begun a new season from careers in education but continue to live lives of purpose and service. Together, they have led multiple teams to Mexico to build homes in partnership with Homes of Hope, helping families experience God’s tangible love.
Andi and Bob are grateful parents to three grown sons, a beloved daughter-in-law, and now, proud grandparents to their grandson, Lawson. Whether serving across borders or around a Bible, Andi’s heart beats to see lives transformed by the truth of Scripture and the hope of Jesus.
Randy Thomas
Church Engagement
Randy has a passion for helping local churches strengthen the care they provide to global workers. With more than 50 years of pastoral experience, he understands the challenges churches often face in providing the kind of support global workers need to thrive.
Randy has served churches of all sizes in both rural and urban settings, in roles ranging from lead pastor and executive pastor to care pastor. He has also planted a church and founded a faith-based nonprofit. This broad experience, combined with his creative approach to ministry, gives him a unique perspective that helps church leaders think outside the box and develop effective, sustainable member-care strategies.
Randy and his wife, Kathy, have three adult children and six grandchildren.
Derek Schuessler
Executive Director
Derek and his wife Tori are passionate about serving those on the frontlines of God’s mission, equipping Kingdom workers to thrive in their calling. They have followed God’s calling across a fascinating journey, one in which they continue to see the need to build up others. With 10 years of cross-cultural ministry experience, they bring a unique blend of leadership, vision, and a heart for global impact to their new role as Executive Directors of MissioCare Collective.
Together, they have cultivated a deep love for mobilizing and supporting others, drawing on their education, as well as personal and professional experiences, to strengthen and encourage workers around the world. They are committed to ensuring that those serving in ministry remain spiritually, emotionally, and physically equipped for the long haul.
Their journey together has been filled with the joys and challenges of raising two boys and wholeheartedly pursuing God’s purposes. They are honored to step into this role, building upon the foundation established by Stan and Gi Gi Horrell, as they steward the mission of MissioCare Collective and equip future generations to fulfill the Great Commission.
Gi Gi Horrell
Director of Global Care
Gi Gi, alongside her husband Stan, co-founded MissioCare Collective. She is deeply passionate about empowering women to thrive in the fullness of who God created them to be, and helping Kingdom workers remain spiritually and emotionally healthy so the Good News is proclaimed across the nations.
As Director of Global Care, Gi Gi leads initiatives to support global workers through MissioCare Collective’s collaborative work with dedicated staff who share her heart for ministering to those serving on the frontlines.
With 28 years of experience as a small business owner, Gi Gi is also a seasoned speaker and Bible teacher. She is a devoted follower of Jesus, continually seeking a deeper prayer life. She treasures her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother.
Christie Smith
Care Specialist
Christie is passionate about making God’s name known wherever she goes and has a particular heart for supporting and encouraging cross-cultural workers around the world. Her experience serving God as a global worker spans various countries as well as the United States. After participating in short-term mission trips, Christie attended a five-month YWAM School in Taiwan in 2006. Following several years of hoping and praying for the opportunity to serve overseas again, she moved to Perth, Australia, in 2019 to serve as a global worker. Due to health challenges, she returned to the United States after 14 months. Although she still has a heart to serve overseas, Christie now sees God using her here in the United States to care for and encourage global workers around the world.
During this time, Christie also earned her Master’s degree in Christian Formation and Soul Care from Denver Seminary. Her training in spiritual direction and soul care has equipped her to walk alongside others as they seek to notice God’s presence and work in their lives. While she did not know where this training would eventually lead, she now sees God’s direction in bringing her to MissioCare, where she serves as a Care Specialist—providing soul care, spiritual direction, and relational encouragement to help global workers thrive in their calling.
Christie currently lives in Denver, Colorado, and has attended Fellowship Denver Church since 2014, where she serves on the prayer team. Outside of ministry, she enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, coffee, and instructing spin classes at her local YMCA..
