The Bridge Between: Holding the Rope in Seasons of Change

When we talk about "holding the rope," we often focus on the tension, like the weight of the work and the commitment required to stay steady. But this quarter, we were reminded that the rope is also a lifeline of connection. In the following pages, you’ll see how that connection played out across Central and South Asia, through quiet moments of Sabbath with our leadership and team, and in the ongoing, daily rhythms of care that sustain our global workers. Thank you for standing firm at the top of the ridge so we can continue to lean into these sacred spaces together.

A Journey of Presence: Central & South Asia

During this quarter, Tori and Derek were able to travel to Central and South Asia to sit with three different couples/teams, each navigating a significant season of transition. They weren't just professional shifts, some were deeply personal. From moving between organizations and shifting physical locations to preparing for home assignments, some were wading through the emotional weight of "the unknown."

One couple we visited is navigating an especially joyful yet complex transition: they are newly engaged and preparing for a move back to the States to start their life together, while continuing in ministry to the nations.

In the midst of all these moving parts—weddings, packing crates, and new roles—we were deeply moved by each family's resilience. To witness their unwavering rootedness in their calling and their quiet trust in the Lord was a profound gift. Our role was simply to be a steady presence, reminding them that as they navigate the bridge between what was and what will be, they do not hold the rope alone. We return with a renewed commitment to support them through the beautiful, messy complexities of "the middle.”

Equipping the Community: Care Partner Trainings

In March, MissioCare Collective hosted ten participants in the Pacific Northwest over the course of two Care Partner Training weekends, equipping them to provide thoughtful and effective care for global workers.

The training focused on MissioCare’s three core distinctives: creating safe spaces, letting biblical truth guide conversations, and allowing time for process what global workers are experiencing. Participants received training how to develop relationships characterized by transparency and trust—settings in which individuals feel both heard and supported while letting biblical truth guide each conversation as to the complexities missionary life. In addition, the training emphasized attentive listening, discerning responses, and the importance of a measured pace that fosters reflection and meaningful care.

By the conclusion of the training, participants were prepared to serve alongside global workers with a spirit of presence, wisdom, prayerfulness, and patience—offering care that faithfully reflects the heart of God and that of MissioCare Collective.

Sustaining the Team: Board & Staff Retreat

To hold the rope effectively, our team must first be grounded and strong. Recently, our board and staff stepped away for a dedicated time of Sabbath and Rest. This was a purposeful season of slowing down to listen to the Spirit. By prioritizing this time of spiritual vitality, we hope to ensure that the foundation of MCC remains healthy and resilient for the seasons of service ahead.

Ongoing Global Care

The heartbeat of our mission is found in the quiet, sustained touchpoints with global workers. Our entire team is currently engaged in the "long walk" of care—regular check-ins and listening sessions that provide a safe harbor for those on the front lines. We are seeing a significant need for consistent emotional processing space as workers navigate an increasingly complex global landscape. We remain committed to being the steady hands on the rope, no matter the distance.

Looking Ahead

In April, the reach of our care extends to South Africa. Gi Gi and Andi will be joining the Azmera retreat to provide specialized support, refreshment, and soul care for women serving cross-culturally. We look forward to seeing how this time of intentional investment strengthens these workers for their unique callings.

Sometimes it's hard to go to or through the deep places alone, and this quarter has been a vivid reminder of why that matters. Whether it is a couple preparing for a new life in the States or a team navigating the complexities of a move within South Asia, your partnership allows us to keep our grip firm and our presence constant. Thank you for holding the rope with us—not just through your resources, but through your prayers and your shared belief in the value of every soul we serve. We couldn't do this without you.
