Am I Enough?

Am I Enough?

Have you ever gone through a season of doubt and wondered, “Do I have what it takes?” Have you  compared yourself to others and thought, “Someone else could certainly do this better”?

We often turn to the lives of biblical characters, drawing inspiration from their courage while recognizing  our own struggles in their moments of doubt.

"Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people… Be strong and very courageous.  Be careful to obey…” (excerpts from Joshua 1:6-7)

Joshua stood at a defining moment in his life. Moses, the great leader of Israel, was gone. The  responsibility of leading God's people now rested on his shoulders. Ahead lay uncertainty, opposition,  battles, and challenges unlike anything he had faced before.

God's message to Joshua was remarkably simple: "Be strong and courageous."

Notice that God did not tell Joshua to be talented, experienced, or self-sufficient. He did not assure  Joshua that every obstacle would disappear or that every battle would be easy. Instead, God called  Joshua to strength and courage rooted in something deeper than his own abilities - God's presence and God's promises

As kingdom-minded workers, we know something of Joshua's challenge. We step into unfamiliar  cultures. We engage spiritual darkness. We walk alongside broken people. We face disappointments,  setbacks, misunderstandings, financial pressures, and seasons when the fruit of our labor seems  painfully small.

There will be days when strength feels depleted and courage feels distant. Yet God's command to Joshua  reminds us biblical strength is not self-reliance. It is not gritting our teeth and trying harder. True strength  comes from confidence in God's character and faithfulness. Courage is not the absence of fear; it is  moving forward in obedience because God has spoken.

Notice that the Lord connected courage with obedience. "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to  obey..." Courage is not merely facing difficult circumstances. It is remaining faithful when compromise  would be easier. It is continuing to trust when results are slow. It is choosing integrity when no one is  watching. It is proclaiming truth when the culture resists it.

Many kingdom workers spend their lives investing in people, often without seeing the full impact of their  labor. Joshua did not conquer the land in a day, and we rarely see God's purposes unfold overnight. Yet  the same God who called Joshua continues to lead His servants today.

The work before us may feel overwhelming, but the responsibility for the outcome does not rest on our  shoulders alone. God asks us to be faithful, obedient, strong, and courageous while He accomplishes  His purposes through us.

Today, whatever challenge stands before you, whether ministry fatigue, uncertainty about the future,  relational difficulties, or a calling that feels larger than your abilities - hear the Lord's words personally:

Be strong. Be courageous. Remain faithful. The God who called you is the God who goes before you.

Reflection:

• Where is God asking you to exercise courage today?

• What fears may be hindering your obedience?

• How can you draw strength from God's presence rather than your own abilities?

A Prayer for You Today: Father, thank You for calling me into Your Kingdom work. When I feel weak,  remind me Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. When fear threatens to paralyze me, grant me  courage to obey Your voice. Help me to remain faithful in the small things and steadfast in the difficult  things. May my confidence rest not in my gifts, resources, or circumstances, but in Your unfailing  presence. Make me strong and courageous for the sake of Your glory and the advancement of Your  Kingdom. Amen.
