The Ultimate Hold

The Ultimate Hold

“To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ.”
Jude 1:1

Serving Christ can sometimes feel like an endless effort to hold everything together. We hold tightly to our plans, responsibilities, families, ministries, finances, and futures. We anticipate problems and try to prepare for everything that might go wrong.

But eventually, our hands grow tired.

There are seasons when needs exceed our capacity, circumstances move beyond our control, and ministry becomes heavier than we expected. Loneliness, disappointment, grief, health concerns, financial pressures, or simply exhaustion can leave us wondering, “How much longer can I keep going?”

And sometimes, our grip begins to slip.

That is why Jude's words are such a beautiful gift to a weary heart. He doesn't remind us how tightly we must hold on to God. Instead, he reminds us that God is holding on to us.

The word kept means to guard, protect, watch over, and preserve. What a comforting picture of our God. Our security isn't dependent on how strong we are, how well we understand what God is doing, or how perfectly we navigate the journey.

We are kept because He is faithful.

When you are weary, when ministry feels fruitless, when loneliness weighs heavily, when your faith feels small, when you stumble and feel like you've failed Him, YOU ARE KEPT!

Your security does not rest on the strength of your grip on God. It rests on the strength of His grip on you.

So today, release the burden of believing that everything depends on you. If you do, here is an exercise to help you release the burden: Open your hands. Take a deep breath. And remember as you declare:

I am are called.
I am are beloved.
I am being kept.

Your hands may grow tired.
Your faith may tremble.
Your strength may falter.

But His grip never does! He is holding you!

“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy.” Jude 1:24
