Numbering Our Days

Numbering Our Days

Psalm 90:12 (ESV)
“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”

As another year draws to a close, Moses’ prayer becomes our own. This psalm, the only one attributed to him, carries the voice of a man who learned to depend on the everlasting God through wilderness seasons. He asks the Lord to teach him to number his days, not simply to count them, but to see them in light of God’s faithfulness. When we do that, we look back with honesty and gratitude, remembering that God has been present in every joy and every hardship.

Numbering our days also helps us look ahead with humility and hope. We do not know what the next season will hold, but we do know the One who holds it. Wisdom – godly wisdom - grows where dependence deepens. Remember, as Pastor Alistari Begg put it, “If dependence upon God is the objective, then weakness is an advantage.” This is not a call to measure our productivity, but an invitation to entrust our days to the God who has been our dwelling place in all generations.

At MissioCare Collective, we are grateful to walk with you as you look back in remembrance and look ahead in trust, confident in the God who teaches us to number our days and fills those days with His presence.

A Brief Year-End Practice

Look Back:
Write down one joy, one challenge, and one clear moment of God’s provision from this past year.

Look Ahead:
Write down one hope, one fear, and one place where you want to seek God’s wisdom in the coming year.
